It has been quite a year, right? In some ways it feels like the time flew by and in other ways it just drug along. You may be tempted to put off this month’s Date Night saying you have no time for this in the midst of this busy season. I encourage you to squeeze in a little time before the end of the year to look back over 2020 - 15 minutes is all you’ll need.

Here's why this month's topic is so important ...

Take a Bite:

What’s one money move you made this year that you’re proud of and why?

DATE NIGHT MATERIALS LIST:

  • A copy of last month’s budget (if you plan to do a budget check-in)

15 MINUTE SNACK: WHAT A YEAR!

This month, I encourage you to snuggle up near your holiday decor with a special treat and take a look back at the last year.

Use these questions to guide your conversation:

  1. How has your financial situation changed over the course of this year?

  2. If you faced any financial setbacks, how did you bounce back?

  3. What are five (yes, five) financial moves you’ve made this year that you feel proud of?

  4. What is one thing 2020 has taught you about finances (could be your finances personally or the financial world in general)?

  5. What’s one thing it taught you about yourself? About your partner?

  6. What progress did you make toward the goals you set at the beginning of the year?

  7. Looking forward to 2021, what do you want to: start doing, stop doing, and continue doing with your finances next year?

MAKE IT A MEAL: APPLY WHAT YOU'VE LEARNED TO YOUR CURRENT BUDGET

You’ve got enough on your plate during this busy season. We’ll wait to apply these learnings in January’s Date Night Club.

MONTHLY BUDGET CHECK-IN

Take a moment to look back at last month's budget together.

  • Did you stay on track?

  • If you got off track, what 1-2 steps can you each take to get back on track again?

  • Did any surprises come up - positive or negative?

  • Take a look over the expenses, did the way you used your money align with your values?

  • What changes will you make for next month?
